Medway Maine, conveniently located just off Interstate 95, is a key entry point to the great north woods and a gateway to Baxter State Park and Mt. Katahdin. The town is approximately 70 miles north of Bangor, in northern Penobscot County.

Medway supports a variety of local businesses, including a turf and mulch manufacturer and a paving supply and asphalt company. The area offers year-round tourism opportunities, including snowmobiling, white water rafting, hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting.

Medway and East Millinocket operate a full K-12 educational system. Schenck High School serves as the district High School and has a 98% graduation rate with 65% of graduates going on to higher education. Medway is also part of the Region 3 vocational system.

The University of Maine in Orono is Maine's largest institution with 12,000 students, and is located less than one hour from Medway. UMO offers more than 100 undergraduate degrees plus Masters and Doctorate programs.

Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor offers a wide selection of Associate degrees in technical and professional fields.

The Katahdin Area Training Center in East Millinocket in an off campus center that offers courses taught on site and via interactive television.



Local electricity is provided by the Bangor Hydro Electric Co. & Maine Public Service.

Water and sewer are provided by on-site wells and septic systems.

Bell Atlantic is the local telephone carrier, and most long distance carriers are available. In addition, businesses can get access to a Bell Atlantic fiber optic bundle that comes through Medway.

Pioneer Wireless Network offers customers in Medway high speed wireless internet access.

Bottled and bulk gas are available locally and a natural gas transmission line is in the planning stages.
