Although the Medway area is known as one of the nation's premier four season recreational areas with numerous
tourism related business, it also has the distinction of having a strong industrial and commercial sector.
The paper and forest products industry has created a work force with unmatched technical skills and manufacturing
experience. However, faster and more efficient machinery has led to a reduction in employment in that sector, resulting
in a large number of workers who are available for businesses and industry that decide to locate in this area.

In addition to having readily available skilled labor, the Medway area benefits greatly from the state of Maine's Pine Tree
Zones program. This program leverages an aggressive combination of tax incentives to jump-start economic development
in regions of state where unemployment is relatively high. Some of the benefits of the Pine Tree Zones program include
corporate income tax credits, income tax reimbursement and sales and use tax exemptions for qualified business activities. For
more information about the Pine Tree Zones, you can visit the Maine Office of
Business Development website.
